Video delights

I am off tomorrow for an FMS certification in King of Prussia, PA. I'm really looking forward to it - I think Gray Cook and FMS are doing some good work - but I am NOT looking forward to the 8 hour drive. The good news is Fifth Ape will soon be able to add Functional Movement Screenings to its service offerings. The bad news is I'll be largely offline for the next few days, so no blog posts to get you through the weekend.  Guess I'll just have to pack as much goodness into this one as possible to tide you all over!

Two videos for you.  The first is Frosti showing some incredible speed and flow - in my opinion, this is what it's all about - this does more for me than any "tricking" or "freerunning" highlight reel.

If you're a current Fifth Ape student, watching this is required homework. Note the simple moves, the clean footwork approaching obstacles, and the (mostly) balanced landings. Pretty awesome.

Next up, a completely different video - showcasing the talents of some very young and very skilled traceurs in Europe.

This is the best kind of highlight/showreel video.  As Duncan, who first showed this to me, said, it shows who they are, not just what they can do. There's plenty of youthful stupidity on display, but a benign sort - kinda like watching one of those classic John Hughes movies. Some bits make me furrow my brow in mild disapproval, but I'm mostly just blown away at how good these kids are. The final 5 minutes are absolutely fantastic.

Have a great weekend.
